The Denver Winter Park Ski Train is back!

|

Escape to Winter Park Resort

Denver skiers and snowboarders rejoice! It’s time to get your snow gear out of storage for powder days and après ski drinks because the historic Winter Park Express is back! After a seven-year hiatus, you can finally reclaim your stress-free weekend ski trips to Winter Park Resort. And with clean, reliable storage from StorQuest, you can make room for new gear for the whole family without overstuffing the garage. Just stop by your storage unit, grab your stuff, and head to the station to catch a relaxing ride to the mountain.

Why spend your free time staring at taillights on I-70 when you can ride the rails in style and comfort?  As the only slopeside rail service in the country, the Winter Park Express makes it easy for you to get out of the city and onto the mountain. Around here, we like to play as hard as we work. And sometimes, we can’t tell the difference. So the team at StorQuest is already unpacking our skis, snowboards, and winter wear in preparation for long days on the mountain and slow evenings in front of the fire. Your journey matters, so make it a great one.

Why Winter Park Resort?

It’s close

Located only 67 miles northwest of the city, Winter Park Resort is the closest major ski area to Denver International Airport and metro Denver. In addition to alpine skiing and snowboarding, you can also tube, fat bike, Nordic ski, snowshoe, snowmobile, and more. Drop in for the day or make it a weekend trip for an authentic Colorado getaway.

The terrain

Home to 3,081 acres of award-winning terrain, you can choose from seven unique territories for your riding pleasure. Grab the kids for a relaxed day on the groomers at Winter Park or escape to Mary Jane® for some black diamonds and tree skiing. Looking for more than a slope? Hit up the terrain park for an 18-foot superpipe and more than 80 other features. Still not challenged? You’ll find the extreme double-black diamond terrain of your dreams at The Cirque.

Here’s a list of the runs you can’t miss:

  • Best for beginners: Winter Park TerritoryCranmer and Allan Phipps
  • Best for getting away from it all: Vasquez Ridge Territory – Sundance and Stagecoach to Big Valley
  • Best for experts:  The Cirque Territory – Hop on the Cirque Sled to Alphabet Chutes
  • Best for bumps: The chutes on Mary Jane® – Awe Chute, Baldy’s Chute, and Jeff’s Chute
  • Best for powder days: Eagle Wind Territory – Thunderbird Traverse

Après ski

After a day on the slopes or in between runs, there’s nothing like the one-of-a-kind après ski food and drink at Winter Park Resort. Head to Derailer Bar for a burger and a Monster Vodka, or stop in for a bite to eat at Lunch Rock. Sitting atop Mary Jane Territory at 11,200 ft., Lunch Rock serves “High Craft Beer and Food,” including the legendary Mary Jane Ale brewed by New Belgium. Pair it with a bowl of Butternut Squash Soup or The BLAST sandwich – bacon, lettuce, avocado, salmon, and tomato. Ready to add a little spice to your life? Try the Habanero Hot Chocolate at Hill House.
