How much does self storage cost?
The cost of a storage unit depends on a few things, mainly the age and location of the facility, the security features available, and the size and style of the unit you rent. The national average cost for a storage unit varies greatly by location.
Is there a security deposit?
Security deposits are not uncommon for storage facilities, as they can cover the cost of a things like a missed-month’s rent or clearing the unit after a tenant vacates. At StorQuest, you won’t have to worry about coming up with the extra security deposit money.
Do I have to insure my storage unit?
Most storage facilities will require you to either provide proof of insurance, via a third party or your homeowner’s or renter’s policy, or to purchase insurance through a partner provider. StorQuest has affordable insurance options, as low as $10 a month.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
Some facilities may require a certain contract length, but most offer month-to-month leases to be more accommodating. StorQuest storage facilities do not require long-term contracts. We offer flexible, month-to-month leases, so you only pay for the storage you need for as long as you need it. Discounts are also available for long-term leases.
What if I don’t know what size unit I need?

Can I change units if I need a different size?
Yes. Depending on availability, you may have to wait for the size you want to become a available, or for the lease on your current unit to end. Check with management to make arrangements.
What’s climate-controlled storage?
Climate-controlled storage is designed to help protect temperature-sensitive items while in storage. Typically, a climate-controlled storage unit is set at a set temperature or within a set temperature range. Here are some other terms and definitions that might be helpful while you’re shopping for storage.

Air-conditioned storage units keep the space from rising beyond a set temperature point.

Temperature-controlled storage units are kept within a set temperature range, protecting against high and lows.

Humidity-controlled storage units do not allow the humidity to rise or drop outside of a certain point.
Do I provide my own lock?
Most facilities will not provide a lock to you free of charge, though they will likely sell a variety of locks for purchase. Whenever possible, StorQuest always recommends purchasing a commercial-grade padlock.
Are storage facilities safe?
The safety of every storage facility will vary based on factors such as location and security amenities. While you may be able to find a storage unit that seems like a bargain, check to make sure that the low cost doesn’t mean low-end security features. Can other people access my storage unit?
You are the only person who has or may grant access to your storage unit. For details on abandoned units and past-due accounts, you’ll want to consult with management at your facility.
Can I store my car, boat, or RV in storage?
Most standard storage units are not built for storage of large or recreational vehicles, though many standard units can accommodate a car or motorcycle. Many storage facilities do offer specialized storage for boats and RVs, either indoor or as outdoor parking spaces which may or may not be covered. Do storage facilities rent moving trucks?
Many storage facilities do rent moving trucks or offer use of a moving truck at move in for a small fee. Check with your StorQuest location to inquire about a moving truck.
Do I have to give notice before I move out?
Almost all storage facilities require some notice before move out. Typically this ranges from one week to one month, but may vary. StorQuest Storage facilities require 7 days notice before move out.
