2. Personal Information We Collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect various categories of Personal Information. This includes identifiers such as your name, postal address, email address, telephone number, online identifiers, and account credentials.
We may collect customer records and commercial information, including reservation details, rental history, unit preferences, products or services purchased, and payment status. Financial information, such as billing details and payment card information, may be collected and processed by our payment processors; we generally do not store full payment card numbers except as permitted by applicable law.
In certain circumstances, we may collect government-issued identifiers or verification information, such as a driver’s license number, vehicle information, passport number, or Social Security number, where required for rentals, payment processing, security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
We also collect communications you provide to us, including call recordings, voicemails, emails, chat transcripts, and text message content.
When you use our websites or digital services, we may collect internet or other electronic network activity information such as device identifiers, log data, pages viewed, referring URLs, cookie identifiers, and approximate location derived from IP address.
At our facilities, we may collect audio, electronic, or visual information, including video footage from security cameras and recordings of telephone calls.
We may also generate inferences about your preferences, such as likely unit size needs, communication preferences, or interest in promotions.
In limited circumstances, we may collect Sensitive Personal Information as defined by applicable law, such as government identifiers, account credentials, or precise geolocation if you enable location features. We do not collect biometric identifiers (such as fingerprints or facial recognition data) unless required for a specific service and permitted by applicable law.
3. Sources of Personal Information
We collect Personal Information from several sources. This includes information you provide directly to us when you reserve or rent a unit, create an account, make payments, communicate with us, or otherwise use our Services. We may automatically collect information from your devices and browsers through cookies, pixels, software development kits (SDKs), and similar technologies when you use our digital services.
We may also receive information from service providers and business partners that assist us with website hosting, analytics, marketing, communications, payment processing, fraud prevention, and customer support.
In some cases, we may obtain information from third parties you direct us to share information with, such as third-party login providers.
We may also use publicly available or governmental sources where permitted for identity verification, fraud prevention, or compliance purposes.
4. How We Use Personal Information
We use Personal Information to provide and administer our Services, including processing reservations, rentals, payments, and account management. We communicate with you regarding your reservation, rental, payments, account activity, access to facilities, and other service-related matters. Where you have provided appropriate consent, we may also send marketing and promotional communications consistent with your communication preferences and applicable law.
Personal Information is also used to operate, maintain, and improve our Services, including analytics, troubleshooting, testing, research, and product development.
We may personalize content, offers, or recommendations, such as suggesting unit sizes or promotions based on your needs.
Personal Information helps us maintain safety and security, verify identity, prevent fraud, protect against malicious or illegal activity, and enforce our agreements.
We may also use information to comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, protect our rights and property, conduct audits, support corporate governance, and facilitate business transactions.
5. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose Personal Information to service providers and contractors acting on our behalf that perform services such as website hosting, analytics, customer communications, payment processing, security services, marketing support and customer support. These parties are contractually required to use Personal Information only for authorized business purposes. We may share information with our affiliates for internal business operations consistent with this Privacy Policy. We may disclose information to business partners or third parties when you request or authorize such sharing, such as optional products or services you choose to obtain.
Personal Information may also be disclosed to professional advisors, including attorneys, auditors, and insurers, and to government authorities or other parties when required by law or necessary to protect rights, property or safety.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, Personal Information may be transferred to the relevant successor entity. We may also use and disclose aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
6. Data Retention
We retain Personal Information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Retention periods vary based on factors such as legal requirements, dispute resolution, and enforcement of agreements.
7. Cookies, Analytics, and Similar Technologies
We and our partners use cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies to operate the Services, understand usage, personalize content, and (where permitted) provide advertising. You may be able to manage cookies through your browser settings; disabling certain cookies may affect functionality.
Some browsers transmit a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. As described in Section 10, where applicable we treat a GPC signal as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of Personal Information for the browser and device that sends the signal.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect Personal Information. However, no security measure is perfect, and no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA Notice)
This section applies to California residents and supplements the disclosures above. Personal Information and Sensitive Personal Information have the meanings given in the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the “CCPA” or ”CPRA”).
9.1 Categories Collected, Used, and Disclosed
In the preceding twelve (12) months, we have collected the categories listed in Section 2, and used them for the purposes in Section 4. We have disclosed these categories to the recipients described in Section 5 for business purposes such as providing the Services, processing payments, customer communications, analytics, security, and legal compliance. We retain each category of Personal Information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or as required by applicable law.
9.2 Sale/Sharing; Right to Opt Out
We do not sell Personal Information for monetary consideration. However, we may “share” Personal Information for cross-context behavioral advertising by allowing certain advertising and/or analytics partners to collect information through cookies or similar technologies on our Services.
You have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your Personal Information. You can exercise this right by: (i) using a Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link (if provided on the Services), (ii) adjusting cookie preferences where available, or (iii) enabling Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser. If required by applicable law, we provide a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link on our website to facilitate these requests.
We do not knowingly sell or share Personal Information of consumers under sixteen (16) years of age.
9.3 Sensitive Personal Information; Right to Limit
We use Sensitive Personal Information only as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, ensure security, comply with law, and for other purposes permitted by the CCPA/CPRA. Where applicable, you may have the right to limit the use or disclosure of Sensitive Personal Information.
9.4 Your Rights
Subject to certain exceptions, California residents have the right to: know/access, delete, correct, opt out of sale/sharing, limit use/disclosure of Sensitive Personal Information (if applicable), and non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights under California law.
9.5 How to Exercise Rights
You (or your authorized agent) may submit requests by email to privacyinquiries@williamwarren.com or via mail at StorQuest Self Storage, Attn: Privacy Inquiries, 100 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 400, Santa Monica, CA 90401.
We will verify your identity before processing requests. Authorized agents must provide proof of authorization, and we may require the consumer to verify identity directly with us. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.
9.6 Global Privacy Control (GPC)
Where we share Personal Information for cross-context behavioral advertising, we recognize GPC signals as a request to opt out of sale/sharing for the browser and device that sends the signal. A GPC signal applies to that browser/device and does not necessarily apply to other browsers/devices or to offline contexts.
10. Automated Tools and AI
We may use automated tools, including artificial intelligence and machine-learning technologies, to help provide and improve the Services (for example, to triage inquiries, assist customer support representatives, detect fraud, or personalize communications). We do not use such tools to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects solely by automated means without human involvement, except as permitted by applicable law. These tools operate under human oversight and are designed to assist, not replace, human decision-making.
11. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under thirteen (13) years of age, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under thirteen (13) years of age.
