Top 5 Things to do in Tampa This Winter

|

While winter in most areas of the country draws people indoors, that’s not the case in Tampa. During winter months, this west Florida coastal city is the place where awesome days begin (and end). StorQuest’s list of things to do hits all the notes of a perfect Tampa visit.

Clearwater Beach

This laid-back beach town is known for soft, white sand and clear, calm waters year-round. During the daytime, jet-ski, stand-up paddleboard, or cruise the waterfront path on rollerblades and, in the evening, experience Pier 60’s festival-like atmosphere. There’s a variety of food vendors and street performers to entertain you, or simply choose to sit back and people-watch. Either way – Clearwater Beach offers a classic Tampa experience.

Parksdale Farm Market

This is the ultimate Tampa institution. Since 1969, Parksdale Farm Market has been selling fresh fruit year-round. Family owned, the market is open 7 days a week throughout the winter months, and time spent here introduces visitors to the refreshing sweetness of Florida-grown strawberries, perfect citrus, and unique, only-in-Florida gifts.

Hillsborough River State Park

Even though Hillsborough River State Park is close to downtown Tampa, the natural vibe makes it feel miles away. Here, you can spend the night at a campsite, hike more than 7 miles of trail, kayak Class II river rapids, swim in the park’s pool, or take in the history of the region at the visitor center. The added bonus of spending your downtime here? You’ll feel like summer never ended.

February is for Festivals

In Tampa, the month of February is synonymous with impressive outdoor gatherings. But schedule wisely. There’s lots to do. Attend the Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Festival; check out the Tampa Bay Chocolate Festival; or stroll the Tampa Riverwalk Sweet n’ Spicy Festival. Plus, the Florida State Fair has rolled out the awesome in Tampa every February since 1904.

Major League Baseball

Tampa’s George M. Steinbrenner Field is the spring training facility for Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees. They’ve been training in Tampa for the last 25 seasons and you can snag your ticket to watch them starting in late February.

Make Room for Awesome. Then Make is Happen.
