Top 5 SoCal Surf Trips

|

Southern California is loaded with bucket list-caliber surf spots. Whether you’re new to the sport or you’re an accomplished expert, you’ll find the perfect fit on our stretch of the Pacific Coast. Here are five of StorQuest’s favorite SoCal surf trips.

Oceanside Pier & Oceanside Harbor

The Oceanside coastline is home to some consistently killer waves, making it one of SoCal’s premier surf spots. There are ample breaks to choose from near the iconic Oceanside Pier, though you’ll no doubt have plenty of competition for the biggest waves. Just a few minutes up the coast is Oceanside Harbor for even more great riding. Oceanside’s surf culture is strong – you’ll find a variety of surf shops and schools strewn about town, making the classic beach town a great spot to learn the ropes.

Malibu Lagoon State Beach

This epic beach is also known as Surfrider Beach – and for good reason. Its waves are widely considered some of the best in the world. Smooth waves make this famed stretch of SoCal coast an unbelievable surfing destination. The beach features three sections geared toward varying skill levels – making a fantastic surf spot no matter whether you’re a newbie or seasoned pro.

Huntington Beach

Known as Surf City USA, this gem in Orange County is one of the most renowned surf spots in the United States. It boasts awesome waves year-round – with a good mix of big and small to accommodate newbies and experts alike. With more than 8.5 miles of coastline and a vibrant surf culture, Huntington Beach is a must-visit surfing destination.

El Porto Beach

El Porto is notorious for its big and consistent waves, thanks to a deepwater canyon just offshore that pushes the water higher. Those monstrous waves make for big-time popularity. If going big is your thing, then you’ll definitely want to pay El Porto Beach a visit. This Manhattan Beach surf spot is great for all levels of surfers.

San Onofre State Beach

Tucked along the coastline between Los Angeles and San Diego, San Onofre State Beach near San Clemente is a haven for fans of smooth rides and chill vibes. Affectionately referred to as San O by locals, this popular stretch of beach draws all-age crowds and is an awesome place for beginners.
