The Best Summer Happenings Around Arvada, CO

|

Summer is in full swing here in Arvada, Colorado, which means no matter what gets your heart racing, there are tons of events and things to do. StorQuest made it our mission to find some of the most awesome things happening around the neighborhood, and we came up with this list of adventures.

2019 XTERRA Indian Peaks:

For the most epic of race experiences, you gotta check out XTERRA Indian Peaks put on by Dig Deep Sports, LLC. Head to Eldora Mountain Resort on August 10th for a full spread of events. It all starts at the Indian Peaks Trail for the 10K and 5K trail runs at 7:30 AM. The climbs are short but steep and the trail weaves through the soft dirt of the forest before dropping a technical descent. Like to mix things up throughout your race? Challenge yourself with a triathlon. Starting at 9:30 AM you have the option of swimming or paddleboarding 1000M through the chilly waters of Peterson Lake. Dash to the transition area for the bike portion and peddle two loops for 22K. Top it all off with a 7K trail run through the Eldora Nordic Center. Looking for something a little shorter? A new Sprint version of the triathlon was announced this year – 500M swim or paddleboard, 12K bike, and a 4K trail run. It’s not too late to sign up – register for an event here!

Stand-Up Paddleboarding with Yoga:

Flow Yoga Studio in northwest Arvada knows there’s nothing like the feeling of a summer morning out on the lake and has put together a one-of-a-kind experience for you to soak it all in. On August 24th and 25th at 8:00 AM, get ready for the most adventurous OM experience ever. Meet yoga instructor Suzanne Hauserman at Bear Creek Lake in Lakewood where you’ll be handed a paddleboard, a vest, and a paddle. You’ll make your way to the middle of the lake and get your zen on right there on top of your board. What better way to get one with nature, right?

Continental Divide Trail Run:

If a hardcore distance race in the heart of the mountains isn’t on your summer bucket list, you should definitely add this one. The Continental Divide Trail Run is a short road trip away in Steamboat Springs, but totally worth it. Runners push themselves to the limits, taking in insane mountain views as they race to the finish line. The 16-mile course leads runners over secluded dirt roads and trails, gaining over 3,500 feet of elevation. Ultramarathon runners can take on the 50K course, which weaves through Storm Peak Challenge and summits Mount Werner. All proceeds from the race benefit the Shaw Family Foundation, so you’ll get in a good workout while also giving back to the community!

Free MMA Classes:

Release your inner Conor McGregor with Train.Fight.Win. – named one of the top MMA gyms by 5280 Magazine and CBS Denver. All experience levels can come in on the first Sunday of every month for free MMA fitness classes from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM. Learn the fundamentals, kick some bags, and get an intense workout. What’s not to love?

Tough Mudder:

Extreme doesn’t even begin to cut it with this event. The Tough Mudder Classic Colorado challenges you to test your limits with 25 epic obstacles spread over eight to 10 miles of terrain. Grab a group of friends and beast your way through mud-drenched rolling hills and over legendary obstacles. Just like their tagline says – you’ll be stronger than you started, so don’t pass this one up.
