Moab - Eastern Utah
Coming in at the top of our list is Moab, needing no intro as a world-renowned mountain bike playground. From newbies to pros and everyone in between, riders come for the sheer number and variety of rides. Moab's extensive trail networks wind through stunning red rock landscapes and water-carved canyons, creating breathtaking desert scenery. Moab trails have gained legendary status among mountain bikers. Slickrock, the trail that put Moab on the map, is an 11-mile roller coaster ride on rock and sand that will test your bike handling skills and fitness.
New to the sport? We've got you covered. You'll find shuttle services and guided tours to ample green trails in the Moab Brands Bar-M area, but keep in mind these are general ratings. So when in doubt, walk it out.
Virgin - Southern Utah
Do you love singletrack and slick rock? Is your dream-come-true adventure riding on endless gravel doubletracks? If downhill and gravity are your thrill, you won't find lifts here, but the exposed cliff edges will have your heart racing after you've crested the plateaus. No matter your style, Virgin trails are fun and flowy with epic Mesa views. Virgin is home to the annual Red Bull Rampage in October. Your adrenaline will be pumping on and off the trails, watching the world's best freeriders going big on extreme terrain, massive jumps, and breathtaking drops.
This year's Red Bull Rampage returns on October 13th in Virgin, Utah. Prepare for extreme weather conditions and more extreme freeriders tackling some of the most challenging landscapes out there. You'll access the venue by hiking or biking for about 5 miles on a dirt road. Event organizers highly recommend packing your own water, food, and layers of clothing.
Park City - Western Utah
Last on our list, but certainly not least, is Park City, the IMBA's (International Mountain Biking Association) very first Gold Level Cycling and MTB City. Park City's ski resorts by winter and lift-assisted mountain resorts by summer, include Park City Mountain and Deer Valley. These resorts provide access to miles of flowing singletrack through pine and aspen trees. A warm, humid climate generally keeps the dirt smooth and grippy, creating optimal conditions.
Further south, Deer Valley and Sundance resorts offer a range of lift-assisted singletrack riding, from flowy green runs for beginners to serious black-level jump trails. So book your ticket and box up your bike; Park City is conveniently located near Salt Lake City, making it relatively easy to reach for out-of-town riders.
