  • Mount Whitney (Mountaineer’s Route), California, out & back, 8.8 miles w/ 6,148-foot elevation gain
  • Borah Peak (Borah Peak Trail), Idaho: Class II-III, out & back, 8.2 miles w/ approx. 5,300-foot elevation gain

Snow-Covered Ascensions

To make your ascent to the peak even more of a challenge with your standard glacier equipment, check out these snow-covered treks for an awesome adventure:

  • Vesper Peak (Standard Route), Washington: out & back, 7.5 miles w/ 4,133-foot elevation gain
  • Mount Hood (Old Chute), Oregon: 6.5 miles w/ 5,600-foot elevation gain
  • Mount Shasta (Avalanche Gulch Route), California: 10.3 miles w/ 7,122-foot elevation gain
  • Mount Rainier (Disappointment Cleaver), Washington: 14.3 miles w/ 8,940-foot elevation gain

Technical Rock Climbing Ascensions

If alpine climbing is your jam, then these routes are a must-do on your next extreme adventure. Any one of these peaks provide you with a truly unmatched ascent:

  • Cathedral Peak (Southeast Buttress) Yosemite National Park, California: 5.6 difficulty
  • Smith Rock State Park (Monkey Face via Misery Ridge Trail), Oregon: 5.8 difficulty
  • Wolf Rock, Oregon: 5.10 difficulty
