What are your hobbies?
Traveling, yoga, movies and documentaries, chess, playing the gong, reading, and fashion.
She attended the Gong Avatar Academy, which is a 13-month program. Here, she found an awakening of herself. As a yoga teacher, healing modalities have inspired her own life.
What brands and products can you not live without?
I'm not married to any particular brand, but I can't live without my jojoba oil, rosehip oil, essential oils, and Vata massage body oil. Organic, of course!
What’s your favorite outdoor activity?
Walking, hiking, and exploring new cities and towns.
How do you spend your weekends?
Usually teaching yoga and going to the ashram.
What are your favorite TV shows, books, music genres/artists and/or podcasts?
I love Mantra music – in particular Kundalini mantras. The Beatles, jazz, and reggae. I just finished watching the last season of The Handmaid's Tale (whoa!), otherwise not much on TV.
I love fictional books based on real events or historical facts such as “The Orphan Master's Son” and authors like Amy Tan or Isabel Allende. Romance novels are fun. I'm still new to the idea of podcasts, but the most recent ones I've been listening to have to do with yoga or religious and spiritual philosophy, such as Joel Osteen or Inspiration and Transformation with Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati.
Who do you admire or who inspires you?
My best friends inspire me. I admire their tenacity, grace and their willingness to face life's challenges. They are intelligent and easy-going with an accepting nature! I also admire female figures such as Saint Mary, Mary Magdalene, Pharaoh Hatshepsut, Georgiana Cavendish Duchess of Devonshire, Frida Kahlo, Marilyn Monroe, and Angelina Jolie, along with any women that has pushed the envelope to overcome challenges and obstacles meant to keep them oppressed.
What's your guilty pleasure?
Dark chocolate and Cindy Lou's vegan chocolate chip cookies!
What is something you’re the most proud of?
My family. They are open-minded, big-hearted, and incredibly accepting of others.
Tell us about a time you did something out of your comfort zone or overcame a tremendous obstacle.
Becoming more self-aware especially of the habits and behaviors that are harmful to the well-being of myself and others is always a trip out of my comfort zone. India too was and continues to be a tremendous challenge as it shows me where I can be more humble. I have been to India twice for one month each and have studied yoga there. Its cultural and social structures are vastly different from our Western comforts. One can experience a roller coaster of emotions and awakenings in a 24-hour period. It's a wild ride but it did help me to open my eyes and heart! I have traveled to many places before having gone to India, but it is because of India that I am more prepared to travel anywhere and experience the inspiring differences of human nature.
How do you use your StorQuest unit?
I stored the furnishings of my studio apartment to spend one month in India, and shortly after that return, a month in Colombia. I have yet to settle into my own place as right now I am in the state of movement.
Why did you choose to store with StorQuest?
The location is convenient, the price reasonable, it's clean, and the staff are kind and accommodating.
What do you love about StorQuest?
That the staff are nice and accommodating. And Kelly Slater? Hello!
What does “Make Room for Awesome” mean to you?
Open your heart!
Anything else you’d like to share with us?
Life has continuously shown me that it's in constant flux, and all that is certain is how I navigate through it. The more I do so with patience, compassion, and remembering that all is temporary, I have a greater chance of experiencing a life with more peace, joy, and grace.
