Wear some shoes you’re comfortable getting wet, and enjoy this short-but-sweet adventure!

Pinecrest Lake Loop, Stanislaus National Forest

It might get less love than better-known neighbors like Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon National Parks, but Stanislaus National Forest has plenty of outdoor excitement to offer – and it’s also closer to home. The perfect way to start exploring the scenic, forested hillsides and imposing granite cliffs at Stanislaus is the Pinecrest Lake Loop – a gorgeous 3.9-mile trail around the lake that’s doable for almost all ages and skill levels. Take in beautiful views along the well-marked trail and soak up the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada.

Tuolumne Table Mountain, New Melones Lake

Mirror Lake Trail, Yosemite National Park

One of the best parts of living in Copperopolis is the proximity to epic exploring in the mother of all national parks: Yosemite. And while the name might bring to mind some pretty advanced hiking and mountain climbing, Yosemite offers excitement for all ages and abilities. You can still get your stunning views of Half Dome and the Yosemite Valley by checking out the Mirror Lake Trail, which is doable as a 2-mile round trip to the lake and back or as a 5-mile loop around the lake.
